browse graphicPreview graphic
This dataset contains ten years of physical, chemical, and biological data collected during shipboard surveys in Weeks Bay, Alabama, between June 1990 and May 2000. Surveys consisted of up to 19 stations throughout Weeks Bay and just beyond its mouth in Bon Secour Bay. Hydrographic profiles and water samples were collected at each station.

Supplemental Information
This dataset is a comprehensive collection of data from nearly a decade of sampling within Weeks Bay, Alabama. Station locations and parameters of interest varied during the time period - not every parameter was measured at every station during every sampling event. Descriptive text for this metadata record came primarily from a technical report on similar cruises that occurred in Mobile Bay between July 1993 and August 1995.

Water samples were obtained from 23-foot outboard boats operated by the Dauphin Island Sea Lab.

PI: Jonathan R. Pennock and John Lehrter
Purpose To examine the effects of river discharge, suspended sediment dynamics, and nutrient inputs on phytoplankton production in the Weeks Bay ecosystem.
