Purpose | Continuously operating reference stations (CORS) are an integral piece in providing continuously monitored spatial data to a global reference frame that makes the CORS network a crucial necessity for understanding subsidence and sea-level rise along the coast. The Northern Gulf of Mexico Sentinel Site Cooperative (NGOM SSC), with funding provided by NOAA Gulf Regional Collaboration Team, conducted an inventory of CORS in the summer of 2016 and compiled additional relevant metadata. The primary goal of this inventory was to capture not only geospatial information of the CORS infrastructure, but also specific parameters of information of each station and to identify the gaps in the existing network to observe sea-level rise at local scales. The completed inventory provides a foundational blueprint that can be used by NGOM SSC to inform decision-makers of where additional infrastructure is necessary for coastal management application. This dataset provides a synthesized snapshot of coverage, regardless of network, for end-users to determine coverage of high-accuracy geospatial information in specific areas throughout the Gulf region. |
