- Parameter or Variable: pCO2 (fCO2) autonomous; Abbreviation: pCO2; Unit: uatm; Observation type: Surface, time series; Measured or calculated: Measured; Sampling instrument: Seawater pump; Analyzing instrument: Spectrophotometric determination of a pCO2-calibrated indicator; Equilibrator type: permeable silicon membrane equilibrator; SEA CO2 gas detector manufacturer: Sunburst Sensors, LLC; SEA CO2 gas detector model: SAMI-CO2; SEA CO2 gas detector uncertainty:; Standardization technique: Initial calibration: 18 - 24 August, 2015 / Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of Montana. The SAMI was immersed in a tank bubbled with a CO2 gas standard (non-CO2 Air and a NOAA Standardized CO2 (359.4ppm)). The pCO2 in the tanks was also measured by an infrared gas analyzer (LICOR). Field calibration against pCO2 calculated from DIC and TA measurement on 16 June 2017 was 498.7 ± 2.6 uatm vs measured value of 564 uatm.; At what temperature was pCO2 reported: In situ sea surface temperature; Uncertainty: ±3 μatm / less than 1 μatm units over 6 months; Method reference: DeGrandpre, M.D., Baehr, M.M. and T.R. Hammar. (1999). Calibration-free optical chemical sensors, Anal. Chem., 71, 1152-1159.; Researcher name: Rene Garreaud; Researcher institution: Universidad de Chile.
