Temperature and salinity collected using CTD in the Equatorial Pacific Ocean north of Australia from 1992-11-01 to 1993-03-01 (NCEI Accession 9400084)
Conductivity, temperature and depth were collected using a SeaCat SBE 16 CTD part of the Tropical Ocean Global Atmosphere (TOGA) Coupled Ocean-Atmosphere Response Experiment (COARE) project. The data were collected over a period spanning from November 1, 1992, to March 1, 1993 during the TOGA COARE Intensive Observing Period (IOP) as a joint effort with WHOI. Data was submitted by Matthias Tomczak of Horace Lamb Centre for Oceanographic Research, Flinders University of South Australia, Adelaide, Australia.
Five (5) SEACATs moored on IMET buoy (instruments 1066, 1067, 1068 and 1069) worked at depths of 76, 92, 108 and 45.5 meters, respectively) to measure T and C every 225 seconds. Four (4) SEACATs recorded good data. Data were retrieved and processed at Flinders after instrument had been recovered in April 1993. The final processing is completed and data are stored on floppy disk.

Supplemental Information | Note: Metadata for this accession were extracted from a legacy database maintained by the U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC). The design of the database did not exactly reflect the FGDC Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Principal Investigator (PI) and organization contact information accurately represents all available information from the legacy database at the time that this description was created. However, proper attribution of a PI to a specific institution or the role (submitting or collecting) taken by an institution may not be correct due to inexact mapping between fields in the legacy database and the CSDGM. Due to this uncertainty, the contact information was initially recorded in the Supplemental Information element of the CSDGM description. To develop more accurate metadata, NCEI reviews metadata for all accessions on an ongoing basis.
